he Rutland Middle School Jr Beta Club (Macon, GA) has sponsored an
activity every month this year in service to their community. However,
they did not do it alone. The membership of over 130 students
determined the projects they would like to sponsor and then called on
the students and faculty of Rutland Middle School to come along side and
serve with them. In September, the Penny For Your Thoughts campaign had
the students of RMS bringing spare change. The students and faculty
gathered over $2,400 for Alzheimer research. In October, the students
of Jr. Beta sponsored a candy sale. The proceeds from this went to the
Children's Hospital. November was our canned food drive and once again
the students and faculty came together to bring 868 items that would be
put to use by our local Salvation Army. December, everyone came
together again to fill three large boxes and one large bag with toys and
stuffed animals, as well as collect over $70 for the Macon Rescue
Mission. When greeted by coordinator Julie Adair of the Macon Rescue
Mission, Jr Beta officers were told that now they would be able to help
the families that they had hoped to help this Christmas season. What a
wonderful gift the parents of these children have given to the
community. They have taught their children that is indeed better to
give than to receive. When thinking about your holiday season, it is
our sincere hope that you will follow the example of these students and
find the joy in giving to others.
Below are pictures from our delivery of Christmas to Macon Rescue
Mission. We have since received a letter telling us that due the
contributions of the Macon community, they were able to help over 7,000
families during the holiday season.
The leadership of the officers and membership and the generosity of our
school and community are more than worthy of accolades! Thanks for the
opportunity
