Spartanburg, SC October 2009 – Luke Christie, a Beta Club student at Dixie High School in Due West, SC, will visit the national headquarters of The National Beta Club in Spartanburg, SC. The staff is honored to have Luke tour the center of operations for the national youth organization that he has participated in for several years. Luke received the prestigious John W. Harris Leadership Award from Beta in 2006.

Luke’s face will be familiar to many, as he has helped with co-hosting duties with Jerry Lewis on the annual national telecast of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Teletho. He serves as NationalYouth Chairman for MDA and spends much of his time enthusiastically speaking on their behalf. Luke has spinal muscular atrophy and is grateful for the assistance that his family receives from MDA. His cheerful and articulate demeanor makes him a sought-after public speaker.

Luke will be at the Beta headquarters on Monday, November 2nd at 10 a.m. Please contact lguthrie@betaclub.org for photo and/or interview opportunities.

The National Beta Club is the nation's largest independent youth organization.
