Developed in partnership with the Rutland Institute for Ethics at Clemson University, the Being Better Betas Ethics Curriculum equips Elementary, Junior, and Senior Beta members with practical decision-making skills that build character, strengthen leadership, and prepare students for life beyond the classroom.
Designed with busy sponsors in mind, this free curriculum is easy to incorporate into club meetings and provides meaningful opportunities for discussion and growth.

Regional Leadership Summits
Held during Regional Leadership Summits, this interactive challenge allows teams to work through ethical scenarios using the STAR Decision-Making Model.
Students practice thinking critically, defending their decisions, and collaborating under time constraints in a fun, team-based environment.
Qualifiers at the Regional level have the option to compete at National Convention each summer.
Harry & Ina Durham Endowed High School Ethics Case Competition
Working alongside peers, students analyze complex, real-world ethical dilemmas and present thoughtful solutions before judges.
This prestigious experience extends classroom learning by exposing students to collegiate-level ethical reasoning and leadership, while providing flexible in-person and virtual competition options for teams. We were proud to have multiple Beta clubs be named as finalists during the 2026 competition.

I noticed that my students became more thoughtful individuals as a whole. Using the STAR model helped my students consider all stakeholders in the case studies and what it would be like to step into someone else’s shoes. Not only did they do this for both competitions, but I also noticed small changes in their personal lives and development afterward.
